Janet was first
registered in 1986 and has cared for many children from 3months to
13 years old.
We have four children
of our own, the youngest two, Emily and Aled, were born 1990 and 1997.
We are members
of the local NCMA Childminding Group and help to run the Liphook Parent and
Toddler Group.
Janet is also a member of the NCMA Hampshire Cluster Childminding Network.
Mik became Ofsted
registered and joined Janet in 2004, initially this was on a part
time basis
which he fitted
around his other role as a contract programmer but as he found childminding
far
more rewarding
he decided to take the plunge and join Janet full time.
Both Janet
and Mik have an avid interest in child development and learning, we
follow the Birth to
Three Matters and
Foundation Stage Policies and are registered for E.Y.E. government funding.
To provide a child-friendly
environment that is safe, caring and stimulating, working in partnership
with parents to ensure each child’s individual needs
are met in an atmosphere where both children
and adults feel happy and comfortable.
To observe, record
and promote children’s social, intellectual and physical development
through play
and structured activities, encouraging them to develop self-confidence
and self-esteem and so feel a
valued member of our multicultural society.
To work with Birth to Three Matters and the Foundation
Stage Curriculum.
To follow the guidelines and requirements of Ofsted.
We aim to keep up to date with early years developments and
training, passing this information onto
the parents along with regular information about their
children’s development within our setting.
Working with Parents
Parent’s and their families, as experts on their
own children, have a prime role in their children
upbringing. We will observe and record your child’s
development and progress, this will be shared
regularly with you through a daily diary to ensure
continuity of care. We will respect your families’
traditions, values
and childcare practices, as far as possible in the context of
caring for children from
several different families.
Communication is very important. When a new family
joins our setting we like to be sure that we
can openly share any concerns
or questions that may arise. We welcome questions, feedback or
discussions of any kind that help us
effectively care for your child and to aid
this communication
we endeavour to
verbally communicate with you everyday; additionally a diary is kept
for each child.
The diary is there for your contributions and
comments as well, as this aids us in caring for your child.
We try to be as flexible as we can, we realize
that life is not always straight forward, so where
possible we will supply additional
transport to/from school or home and extended hours to cover any
problem’s that might occur, as there are two registered
childminders at our setting it makes it far
easier for us to fit in with your needs.
